What are Microgreens
Microgreens in it's simplest form are the vegetables and herbs you already eat. They are grown for one to two weeks until the true leave forms, depending on the plant. They are then harvested. Microgreens have a delicate taste, but 40x the nutrients and vitamins that it's adult counter part has. Microgreens were introduced in the 1980s in San Francisco. In Southern California, microgreens have been grown since the mid‑90s. You will mostly see them in gourmet restaurants or large farmer markets in the bigger cities.
My name is Kristin and my husbands name is Cody, and we run a small family Microgreen farm in Hamilton, MO. We started this adventure because we wanted something different. We were tired of the same salads with boring iceberg lettuce (sorry lettuce). Then, we came across microgreens (queue music and lights), but they weren't available in any store or market close to where we live. So we grew our own in a small container. We fell in love with their different taste and textures. We decided to grow them for our local community, and here we are!
